Color Inspiration

It's been quite awhile since I've posted and I'm going to blame that on the cold, icky weather that just makes me feel lazy. Now that spring is in the air, I'm starting to think about my upcoming projects to brighten up my workspace.

The first thing I like to think about when revamping a space is COLOR. For me, picking a color (or two or three or four) helps me decide what I want to do with everything else. So my first step for my workspace is to decide what colors I want to use for everything.

I've already painted the picture frames that I have hanging above the dresser. For those, I used Windwood Spring, which is a fresh, cool green and Woven Basket, which looks, well, like a cute, country basket color.

Here they are in action, on the picture frames, which were originally a plain, light wood:

I was originally thinking of painting the dresser in Woven Basket as well, but I tried it on a spot of the wall and it just wasn't quite right. (Did I mention that I'll also be painting my living room yellow? I think I'm a bit obsessed...) So I'm still on the hunt for that perfect color for the dresser.

Here is some inspiration I've found online:

If you happen to love with yellow as much as I do and have some inspiration to share, please let me know, I'd love to take a look!

I've Finally Posted my Aromatherapy Collection!

It's been a long time in the making, but I've finally posted the first two scents in my Aromatherapy Collection. This collection marks my emergence into the lovely world of essential oils and I am so happy to be there! While I love the endless options available with fragrance oils, I think I get the most enjoyment from working with essential oils because they literally are as pure and natural as it gets.

The essential oils that I'm using are from a local shop called Avalon Moon in Delhi, NY. If you're ever in the area, you owe it to yourself to drop by this shop. The atmosphere is absolute tranquility and the owner, Hazel, is always so sweet and helpful.

The first two candles in my Aromatherapy Collection are:

Love

Love is an aromatherapy blend of Patchouli and Cinnamon. Use to attract a lover or to create a loving environment.

Health

Health is an aromatherapy blend of Rosemary, Juniper, and Sandalwood. Use to encourage healing.

Anyone familiar with Wicca (or aromatherapy, for that matter) will be delighted to know that the oil blends in my collection have been inspired by the renowned Scott Cunningham, so you know that they are a safe bet!

I welcome you to check out my Aromatherapy Collection, available now on my Etsy shop. And be sure to check back again soon because I am actively testing new blends, which I'll be posting soon!

Introducing a Brand New Collection!

I've been looking forward to unveiling this new collection for quite awhile now, and I am so excited that it's finally ready!

I created the Karma Kollection in honor of my parents who were (and still are) hippies. Each fragrance in the Karma Kollection reminds me of my Mom and Dad in some way and, consequently, is a part of who I am.

I'll continually add more fragrances to the Karma Kollection as I find more inspirations, but here are the first three to be added:

Antique Sandalwood
Antique Sandalwood is a slighlty different take on the woody, musky fragrance of sandalwood, with a touch of cedarwood and patchouli.

Frankincense and Myrrh

For centuries, frankincense and myrrh have been used in spiritual practices and for medicinal purposes. Now you can bring this rich, aromatic fragrance into your home for an enchanting experience.

Nag Champa
Most commonly used in incense, Nag Champa is a woodsy fragrance, reminiscent of patchouli. If you like this fragrance in incense, you’re sure to love it even more in a candle!

My Karma Kollection can now be found in my Etsy shop. Please stop by and check them out!

Spring is Here!

In honor of the first day of Spring, I've posted my new seasonal fragrances for Spring/Summer.

Without further adieu, here they are!

Spring Rain
This is what it smells like after an invigorating rain shower in the warmth of the spring and summer months. Every time I smell Spring Rain, I think of fresh dew on blades of grass after a summer rain.

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea is such a light and fun fragrance with a perfect balance of sweetness and floral tones.

Wildflowers
This blend of various floral scents reminds me of the many wildflowers I pick each spring and summer on my nature walks. It truly does smell like the real thing!

Check out these brand-new fragrances in my Etsy shop. I'm also getting ready to unveil the first two fragrances in my Aromatherapy Collection, as well as a new collection of hippie-inspired scents...all of this is coming soon, I can't wait to share it with everyone!  :)

Earth Day Promises

As you may have noticed by now, eco-friendly practices are really important to me. So when I was offered an opportunity to write a brief article on Earth Day, I jumped at the chance.

The article was just published, and lists five promises that I'm making to myself in honor of Earth Day. I know it's still a bit early (Earth Day isn't until April 22), but I encourage you guys to start you own resolutions to celebrate this special day. Ultimately, we should be making changes everyday to help our planet, but Earth Day is a perfect opportunity to get started.

Feel free to share this link with your friends and family to encourage them to start their own resolutions!

As Promised...

Here are some snapshots of my workspace (finally)!

The dresser to the left is my main space, where I actually melt the wax and prep it for pouring. I'm also using the drawers for storing my supplies. I found this dresser at a garage sale last summer for $5...crazy, right?!? When the weather gets warmer I'm going to repaint it and put some sort of protective coating on the top to protect against wear and tear. (And yes, that's my cat's butt to the right haha.)

This is where I'm storing my stock for now, until I find a larger bookcase. I quickly grew out of this bookcase and now end up stacking the candles which kind of defeats the purpose of having shelving for easy access. So the hunt continues for a better replacement but this works for the time being.

And there you have it, my workspace-in-progress! I still have a lot of work to do before it's exactly what I want, but I am soooo happy having a space of my own to work in. I love that it's right in my own home, and it has tons of natural light, so it's such a cheery space to work in.

I'll keep you guys posted on my progress as I begin to check off my little improvement projects for this space  ;)
